  • Feedback needed: Iwata Custom Micron and Iwata HP series airbrushes

    Question:

    - Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I would really appreciate, if anyone posts their opinion about these devices.  I’ve never used them before, yet am thinking about buying some Iwata airbrushes for fine art applications. What is anyone’s experience with them?  What are good/bad things about these airbrushes? Thanks in advance! ~hanomag I use the Iwata Custom Micron B and this is a great tool for airbrushing.  I use primarily for portraiture and nothing else.  Can’t say anything about the HP series.  You will be very happy with the performance of the Micron B. Marcel Marcel, Thank you for replying.  What brand/type of paint are you using with Micron B?  I’ve heard they are very sensitive and tend to clog (??) Thanks, ~hanomag

I use comart paint for airbrush. You can use the paint at very low psi such as 10-15 psi and still have a very nice spray.  On the other hand, Createx, I use only when I can apply it at a higher psi. This paint seems to do what it wants and sometimes it tends to clog and spit. Marcel

head assembly where it connects to the body. The o-ring that blocks the color cup from the head seems to be fine, however, I presume, there has to be something applied to it (wax? vaselin?) to prevent such leak.  Any ideas?

apart from bee[s]wax, I have also heard of PTFE tape [that is used to seal some pipe joints in plumbing systems] being suggested to stop air leaks at screw threads.
